A story of love, happiness, tragedy,
and death.
INTRODUCTION:
This is a story about my wife, whom I loved
very dearly. It covers her life at the beginning of our marriage,
no job, no income. I accepted a job with an engineering company
in Miami flying into many foreign countries. They had an office
in Quito, Ecuador. With a family of eight (explained later)
we were not making it. Upon my return from Quito I found most
of the workers had been laid off, including me. I accepted
a job in Lansing, Michigan. Miami had been a real heartache
for Terry due to insufficient income. Michigan wasn’t
any better. My salary was too low for us to live on. I had
to borrow money to move the family. For seven years I froze
to death, and hated every minute I spent there. I did enjoy
flying a Cessna 180, and a Beechcraft AT-11. The only positive
thing was that I learned how to operate a stereoplotter used
in making aerial contour maps. We were sick of Lansing and
had to struggle to survive. I accepted a job in Columbus ,
Ohio, doing the same thing but for more money. I was flying
a Cessna 206 there, and my friend had a Cessna 195 which was
a real handful. Terry had her problems as the kids got older
and difficult to handle. I also operated the same type stereoplotter.
After five years in Columbus I decided we would somehow move
back to Florida. I was extremely fortunate to accept a job
with a mapping company in Lake Worth, Florida, family owned,
excellent reputation, great potential. We were finally making
enough to be able to do the things we enjoyed. So from 1959
to 1973 I consider a very unhappy period. From 1973, back
in Florida, life was a real pleasure. I worked for the company
for 25 years, the best years of our marriage. I will write
this story as it happened. It is a complete story of a couple
that loved each other through good and bad times. I have included
many photos of Terry’s life so you can actually see
what a lovely person she was. She was the only thing in my
life.
